Fat Head’s Brewery Named Official and Exclusive Beer Partner of the 2022 Union Home Mortgage Cleveland Marathon

CLEVELAND - (May 5, 2022) — The Union Home Mortgage Cleveland Marathon announced today that Fat Head’s Brewery will be the official and exclusive beer partner for this year’s race, as well as a co-presenting sponsor of the 26.3 after-party, taking place immediately after runners complete their events. The race is set to return to its annual spring timeframe and is scheduled for May 21 and 22 with the Health and Fitness Expo to take place beginning May 20 at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland.

Fat Head’s was originally founded in1992 in Pittsburgh as a craft-progressive restaurant. In 2008, Fat Head’s flagship brewpub opened in North Olmsted and in 2012, the company’s initial production brewery began turning out beer in Middleburg Hts. In 2018, production shifted down the road to a new 75,000-square-foot facility featuring a 250-seat traditional beer hall. A second brewpub opened in Canton that year as well. Today, Fat Head’s is one of the largest regional breweries in the Midwest and the most award-winning brewery in Ohio.

“Our partnership with Fat Head’s Brewery is another great example of our commitment to working with local businesses to celebrate everything we’re proud of in and around Cleveland,” said Race Director Ralph Staph. “Thirty years ago, these guys started with a dream and a real passion for great craft beer and look at them today. Since 1978, we’ve been passionate about helping runners achieve their dreams of crossing the finish line,” he said.

“The Cleveland Marathon is an outstanding tradition and something the city takes a great amount of pride in,” said Matt Cole, co-founder and master brewer at Fat Head’s Brewery.  “We’re excited at the opportunity to be a partner and reward the efforts of all the runners with a well-earned cold craft beer at the end.”

All runners 21 and older will receive a ticket on their race bib for a free beer at the 26.3 mile after-party.
