Don Basch Jewelers Creates Commemorative Custom Sterling Silver Jewelry Pieces for Union Home Mortgage Cleveland Marathon; Plans Meaningful Tribute To Mother

CLEVELAND - (May 11) — The Union Home Mortgage Cleveland Marathon announced today that local, family-owned Don Basch Jewelers is creating commemorative custom sterling silver jewelry pieces for those participating in this year’s race.

The pendants are made right here in Cleveland at the Don Basch flagship store in Macedonia and can be personally engraved. The multiple designs include striking details such as the Cleveland skyline or bold “CLE” lettering and can be customized with race time and distance information.

“Being Clevelanders, we are honored to design, manufacture and handcraft these pieces locally for an event as big as the Cleveland Marathon,” said Dustin Basch, sales manager of Don Basch Jewelers, which opened one year after the first Cleveland Marathon, in 1979.

“Making every moment count has been the motto of Don Basch Jewelers. And we know that every step towards crossing a finish line also counts,” said Ralph Staph, race director. “These pendants are a great way to commemorate our participants’ running achievements.”

In a meaningful tribute, the 4 Basch boys will be running the marathon’s 10k event on Saturday, May 21st in honor of their late mother, Denise Basch. Mrs. Basch made an indelible impact on the health and fitness of countless individuals through her many years of service as athletic director at St. Barnabas Catholic School.

“Whether it was a sporting event or some other activity, our mother always made her children a priority and showed up when we were kids; that continued when we started our own families,” added Dustin. “It’s only right we show up together in honor of her.”

The race is set to return to its annual spring timeframe and is scheduled for May 21 and 22 with the Health and Fitness Expo to take place beginning May 20 at the Convention Center.
